Chinese Character

Our Firm

One of the leading law firms licensed in the People's Republic of China, TransAsia was established by attorneys who have been advising clients on direct investments in China since the early 1980s. TransAsia maintains offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong (associated) and Tokyo (alliance), with a legal team of approximately 80 professionals. The majority of our lawyers are admitted to practice in Mainland China, with the others qualified in the United States, England/Wales, Japan, Australia and Malaysia.

We strive to provide quality, efficient and practical legal advice on complex business transactions in China. Our professionals have extensive knowledge of Chinese law and commercial practice, some of whom have also written authoritative publications on PRC law and advised government agencies on their specialty practice areas, notably in IT, media, e-commerce, employment and real estate.

Practice Areas

We advise on a diverse range of matters including market entry, regulatory approvals, corporate (re)structuring, employment, commercial contracts, intellectual property, M&A, arbitration & litigation and crisis management. We handle transactions from inception to completion, including partner selection, due diligence and full documentation.

In addition to our specialty practice areas, we have substantial experience on transactions involving China's building materials, semi-conductor & electronics, personal safety equipment, fire & security control, sports and insurance sectors.  We are also experienced in the privatization of state-owned enterprises.

Offices

Our main offices are located in Beijing and Shanghai. The Beijing office focuses on telecommunications, media and technology matters, with a leading reputation in each respective industry as well as private equity, whereas the Shanghai office advises more on traditional practice areas, including manufacturing, wholesale and retail, land and real estate, luxury goods and employment.

We have an alliance office in Tokyo (Japan) and an office in Hong Kong.
